Mumbai News Live Updates (August 19): Pawar during his Jan Sanman Yatra in Mumbai on Monday said he is not bothered about his criticism from others and is only concerned about what key leaders of the ruling Mahayuti alliance say. Pawar’s remarks come a day after a group of BJP workers led by the party’s Junnar chief Asha Buchake waved black flags at his convoy during his Jan Samman Yatra in Pune district.
Meanwhile, on account of Raksha Bandhan today, the doctors of the Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) who are protesting against the Kolkata rape-murder incident would tie rakhis to government officials, college administrators, police, security personnel, nurses, and healthcare workers. This also comes a day after a female doctor was physically assaulted in Mumbai’s Sion Hospital, making the MARD further push for its demands including a declaration of all government-run medical colleges and hospitals as safe zones and for the implementation of the Central Healthcare Protection Act.
In other news, several teacher aspirants selected for appointment in the Rayat Shikshan Sanstha after clearing the Teachers Aptitude and Intelligence Test (TAIT) in Maharashtra are agitating at the Education Commissioner’s Pune office for jobs. 800 aspirants had cracked the the exam but await their appointment letters for the past five months.

Mahayuti govt 'selfish', sees brother-sister ties through prism of money: Supriya Sule
Targeting the Maharashtra government over its Ladki Bahin scheme, NCP (SP) leader Supriya Sule on Sunday accused the ruling dispensation of being "extremely selfish" and seeing the brother-sister relationship through the "prism of money".
Addressing a party rally in Dhule district, Sule claimed the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, aimed at providing financial assistance to women in the state, has been launched because of the Lok Sabha poll "shock" for the ruling Mahayuti, comprising the Shiv Sena, BJP and NCP.

Online gambling addict held for killing 74-year-old woman, stealing gold and setting house ablaze
A man addicted to online gambling was arrested in Bhiwandi in Thane district for allegedly murdering a 74-year-old woman, stealing her gold jewellery and then setting the house on fire to destroy evidence, a police official said on Monday.
The incident took place in Zatewada on August 14, the Bhiwandi taluka police station official said.

Five killed as tanker falls into valley in Thane district
Five persons were killed and four others injured when a milk tanker fell into a 200-feet deep valley in Kasara ghat hill section in Thane district of Maharashtra on Sunday, police said.
Prima facie, the driver of the tanker, headed towards Mumbai, lost control of the wheel while negotiating a turn, an official said, adding that further details are awaited.

Two dupe people by creating fake MHADA website, held
Mumbai Police's Cyber Crime unit arrested two men for allegedly creating a website imitating the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority's (MHADA) portal and duping people under the pretext of providing flats under a government housing scheme, an official said on Sunday.
One of the accused, identified as Kalpesh Sevak, created the website, and his accomplice Amol Patel allegedly posed as a MHADA officer to deceive victims into paying Rs 30 lakh for non-existent flats, the official said.

'You will not be able to remove our Dharavikars': Aaditya Thackeray to Maharashtra govt
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray on Sunday while addressing the 'Dharavi Bachao Andolan', demanded assurance from the Maharashtra government that the new buildings constructed in Dharavi as part of Dharavi Redevelopment Project will be allocated to its residents.
He also added that the Maharashtra government will not be able to remove Dharavikars from here.
Earlier in July, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray had criticised the Dharavi redevelopment tender awarded to Gautam Adani, saying that his party won't let Mumbai lose its identity and change into 'Adani City'.

After his rally in Pune, Maharashtra deputy CM Ajit Pawar would address Jan Sanman Yatra rallies in Mumbai at 2 pm and 4 pm.
Yesterday, a group of persons showed black flags to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar during his Jan Samman Yatra in Junnar area of Pune district on Sunday.
Pawar had held a meeting with tourism department officials and environmentalists over development works and local issues.
NCP spokesperson Amol Mitkari in response to this incident, said the Jan Samman Yatra, a mass outreach initiative ahead of the state assembly polls, is a separate programme of the NCP.
